Though born of the evil tyrant Darkseid, Orion was raised by Highfather on New Genesis.  Nonetheless, he still possesses his father's anger, often causing him to act without thought.  He was taught to fight evil and currently resides on Earth as a mission of the New Gods.  Joining the JLA with the secret duty of protecting Earth from the upcoming onslaught of Mageddon, Orion impatiently awaits his return to New Genesis.  He has been accompanied to Earth by Big Barda, who has been assigned to keep a watch on his temper.  Of course, he can't be monitored non-stop, which in turn tries the patience of other Leaguers--
particularly Aquaman who was nearly killed when Orion hastily attacked the star conqueror in Hudson Bay.
