Born into a Mafia family, Helena was part of a brutal kidnapping and witnessed the murder of her parents.  Driven to become a crime fighter in adulthood, Huntress takes her vengeance out on the criminals of Gotham--often in manners Batman disapproves of.  She firmly believes in good and that the world should be a better place for people to live, starting with Gotham City.  After repeated failed attempts trying to tell Huntress to stop trying to be a hero, Batman finally decided to bring her into the Justice League.  Surrounded by the world's greatest heroes, perhaps she would pick up some good habits of how a crime fighter is supposed to act.
