Barda was born on the fiery planet Apokolips and was raised by Granny Goodness, one the evil Darkseid's minions.  Barda became a powerful warrior and eventually leader of the female furies until falling in love with Scott Free, aka Mr. Miracle.  Together they escaped Apokolips and got married, Barda putting her evil ways behind her.  While Mr. Miracle was a long-time member of the Justice League before, Barda never received membership until she came to Earth as part of the preparation for Mageddon's coming and to keep a special watch on Orion.  The team has found her fierce-warrior skills useful in battle.
